Caldwell City Commission 
 Minutes of Meeting – October 4th, 2017
 
The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Public Works Building on October 4th, 2017 at 12:07 p.m.  Mayor P.  Mark Arnold presided.  Commissioner present was Jill Kuehny. Casie Risley, City Administrator was present. Gene Garcia, Marshall, Marc Marcrum, Public Works Supervisor, and Leah Sommerhoff, Deputy City Clerk were also present. 
 
The minutes of the September 20th, 2017 Regular Meeting were read and approved on a motion from Commissioner Kuehny, and seconded by Mayor Arnold. Motion Carried. 
 
Marc Marcrum, Public Works Supervisor was present to inform the Commission of the current maintenance being done to the water tower. During the inspection, Central Tank noted that due to rust, the tower top is in need of painting. It will cost $2,500. Commissioner Kuehny made a motion to approve the addition of repainting the tower top to the work order. Mayor Arnold seconded her motion. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – absent. 
 
The September Court Report was presented and discussed. 
 
It was noted that the Public Hearing for the CDBG Demo Application has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 17th at noon in the Commission Chambers. The next regularly scheduled Commission Meeting will be held on Thursday October 19, 2017 at noon in the Commission Chambers. 
 
The City has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Sumner County Fair Association for assisting in sponsoring the Hospitality Meal. 
 
The Willis & Wanda Kerr Revocable Trust have presented a gift of $11,330.00 to the Caldwell City Cemetery. Their contribution is greatly appreciated.   
 
It was noted that after 21 years of service to the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, Martin Schmidt is retiring. Martin was also the treasurer for the Fireman’s Relief Association. A motion was made by Commissioner Kuehny and seconded by Mayor Arnold to appoint Heather York as the Volunteer Fireman’s Relief Association Administrative Assistant. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – absent. 
 
Appropriation Ordinance 2132 was approved with a motion from Commissioner Kuehny and seconded by Mayor Arnold. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – absent.  
 
At 12.50 p.m. Commissioner Kuehny made a motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel for 10 minutes. Those asked to be present for the session were Commissioner Kuehny, Mayor Arnold, Casie Risley, City Administrator and Gene Garcia, Marshall. Her motion was seconded by Mayor Arnold. Executive Session concluded at 1:00. No motions were made.  
 
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
