 Minutes of Meeting – March 20th, 2019
 
The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Public Works Building on March 20th, 2019 at 12:07 p.m.  Mayor P.  Mark Arnold was present.  Commissioners Michelle Schiltz and Jill Kuehny were present. Gene Garcia, Marshall and Leah Sommerhoff, Deputy City Clerk were also present. Guests present were Velta Glenn. 
 
The minutes of the March 6th, 2019 Regular Meeting were read and approved on a motion from Commissioner Schiltz, and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. Motion Carried. 
 
The February Bank Cash Report and Treasurers Report were presented and reviewed. The reports were approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes. 
 
It was noted that the League of Kansas Municipalities will be hosting a Leadership Summit and Mayor’s Conference in Salina, KS on April 12-13th. 
 
It was noted the RFQ’s had been sent out for Asbestos Inspection as required by CDBG for the Swimming Pool Project. Bids will be opened at the April 3rd, 2019 Regular Commission Meeting. 
Paddock Enterprises provided the Commission with a rendering of proposed pool plans. The design was reviewed and discussed. 
 
Ordinance No. 1465: Enhanced Cereal Malt Beverages &/or Beer Containing Not More Than 6% Alcohol by Volume was presented, reviewed, and approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes. 
 
A motion was made by Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Mayor Arnold to approve the purchase of a 2007 Kenworth from KanOkla for $10,000. This truck will be used to replace the current 1970’s Model Fire Department Tanker. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – abstain, Schiltz – yes.  
 
Gene Garcia, Marshall presented bids for new patrol vehicles to replace the 2010 Dodge Charger. After discussing the options and needs of the department, a motion for approval of the fully outfitted Chevrolet Tahoe Patrol Vehicle was heard from Commissioner Kuehny and seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes. 
 
A motion was made by Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny to list the following surplus property on Purple Wave. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes.

Appropriation Ordinance 2167 was approved with a motion from Commissioner Kuehny and seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes.  
 
It was noted that the City Wide Clean Up will be on April 19th & 20th. 
 
A reminder was given regarding the Strategic Planning Work Session after the City Commission Meeting on April 3rd, 2019.
