Minutes of Meeting – June 7th, 2017
The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Public Works Building on June 7th, 2017 at 12:07 p.m. Mayor P. Mark Arnold presided. Commissioner present was Michelle Schiltz. Commissioner absent was Jill Kuehny. Casie Risley, City Administrator was present. Gene Garcia, Marshall and Leah Sommerhoff, Deputy City Clerk were also present.
The meeting began with the swearing in and reading of oath by Michelle Schiltz, the newly appointed Streets and Utilities Commissioner.
The minutes of the May 17th, 2017 Regular Meeting were read and approved with the noted changes on a motion from Commissioner Schiltz, and seconded by Mayor Arnold. Motion Carried.
It was noted that the Capital Campaign for the Splash Pad project will be kicking off within the next week. Funding avenues were discussed.
A discussion was held regarding the Project Home at 11 S St. Marys. It was decided to offer a 5% forgivable 2nd mortgage as a buyer’s incentive. If you wish to view the home or would like more information, please call City Hall at 620.845.6514.
An Alcohol Consumption Exemption Application was presented for approval from Nicole Eaton for a rental at Park Place. The application was approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz and a second from Mayor Arnold. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – absent, Schiltz – yes.
Ordinance 1457: Amending Water Rate for SCRWD #7 was presented and approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz and a second from Mayor Arnold. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – absent, Schiltz – yes.
It was noted that Caldwell has been named the 30th Safest City in Kansas by LendEDU. City Administrator, Casie Risley will be writing an article for the Caldwell Messenger.
The roof repairs needed at the Caldwell Public Library were discussed. It was noted that the roof is not under warranty. Commissioner Michelle Schiltz made a motion to approve the City of Caldwell to apply for a USDA Rural Development Grant on behalf of the Library. Her motion was seconded by Mayor Arnold. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – absent, Schiltz – yes.
Appropriation Ordinance 2124 was approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Mayor Arnold. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – absent, Schiltz – yes.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:16 p.m.
