 Minutes of Meeting – June 5, 2019


The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Commission Chambers on June 5, 2019 at 12:05 p.m.  Mayor P.  Mark Arnold presided. Commissioner Michelle Schiltz was present. Rebekah Rickstrew, Interim Police Chief was present.  Velta Glenn was also present.

The minutes of the May 15, 2019 Regularly Meeting were read and approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz, and seconded by Mayor Arnold. Motion Carried.

The police report was presented, and Chief Rickstrew briefly described Crisis Intervention Training that is available for law enforcement.  Chief Rickstrew, and Casie Risley also met with Sherriff Chambers in Wellington with great results, the Caldwell PD looks forward to working more closely with Sumner County Sheriffs Dept.

Lary Wolff and Kerry Cutler have been selected to fill 2 of the three vacant spots left on the planning and zoning commission board.

Don Edwards and USD 360 superintendant, Alan Jamison met and discussed the future possibilities of a community daycare in the vacant Carnegie Library. 

A recap of the RFD TV, Best of America by Horseback Event was given by Casie Risley.  All of the visitors were very complimentary of Caldwell, it was a great event.

Resolution 6-2019: Salary Interim Police Chief  was approved with a motion from Mayor Arnold, seconded by Commissioner Schiltz.  Arnold-yes, Kuehny- absent, Schiltz-yes. Motion Carried.

In other information, Casie Risley reported that City Hall’s roof is leaking, and that older records were slightly damaged and insurance has been notified.  Roofing bids are being acquired.  Future record storage has become a concern.   Also, the repairs to the City swimming pool, seem to be holding strong.

Warrant Ordinance 2145 was approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz, seconded by Mayor Arnold.  Arnold-yes, Kuehny-absent, Schiltz-yes.


There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:25 p.m.
