Minutes of Meeting – July 5th, 2017
The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Public Works Building on July 5th, 2017 at 12:07 p.m. Mayor P. Mark Arnold presided. Commissioners present were Michelle Schiltz and Jill Kuehny. Casie Risley, City Administrator was present. Gene Garcia, Marshall and Leah Sommerhoff, Deputy City Clerk were also present. Hollie Gulick, Auditor from Kenneth L. Cooper Jr CPA, Chtd was also present.
The minutes of the June 21st, 2017 Regular Meeting were read and approved with the noted changes on a motion from Commissioner Kuehny, and seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. Motion Carried.
Colin Wood, former Streets and Utilities Commissioner was present to receive an award for his dedicated time and service to the City of Caldwell.
Mr. Wood was also present as an attorney to report his recommendations on the adoption of the latest International Building and Electric Codes. During the discussion, it was noted that code enforcement for these types of codes were generally very costly and required an inspection officer with certifications regarding the inspections and enforcements. It was decided to inquire with other communities who have adopted these codes, to do further research on the topic.
Hollie Gulick, Auditor was present to discuss and review the proposed 2018 Budget. After the review of the budget draft, the 2018 Budget Hearing was set August 2nd, 2017 at Noon in the Public Works Building.
It was noted that the City has received Capital Credits from KanOkla.
The USDA RD Grant Application for the Library Roof repairs was discussed. It was noted that there were no guest present for the discussion, as well as no public comments. The Commission elected to proceed with application process.
It was noted that the Hedrick Trust Wheat Sales from one of the tenants was up approximately $2,000 from last year.
Fire Insurance Proceeds from a structure fire at 304 N Webb have been received in the amount of $375. The property owners have been notified that the structure must be removed.
Appropriation Ordinance 2126 was approved with a motion from Commissioner Kuehny and seconded by Commissioner Schiltz . Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:13 p.m.
