Minutes of Meeting – July 19th, 2017
The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Public Works Building on July 19th, 2017 at 12:16 p.m. Mayor P. Mark Arnold presided. Commissioners present were Michelle Schiltz and Jill Kuehny. Casie Risley, City Administrator was present. Gene Garcia, Marshall and Leah Sommerhoff, Deputy City Clerk were also present.
The minutes of the July 5th, 2017 Regular Meeting were read and approved with a motion from Commissioner Kuehny, and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. Motion Carried.
The June Bank Cash Report, Treasurers Report, and Budget & Revenue reports were presented and reviewed.
A Thank You note sent to Police Officer TJ Ohlemeier regarding his outstanding hospitality and assistance to a couple sightseeing in Caldwell from Florida was read.
An application for the Brightening the Border Queen downtown façade revitalization program was presented from the Caldwell Public Library. The application was approved for the amount of $500. It was noted that the Downtown Roof Grant submitted by the Library had also been approved for $10,000 and City Administrator Casie Risley is applying for a USDA Rural Development grant in hopes to obtain additional funding to assist the Library in their necessary roof repairs.
A discussion was held regarding CDBG Funding for the demolition of unsafe structures. The Commission encouraged Casie Risley, City Administrator to apply for the funding.
The new amusement ride permitting requirements were discussed. It was noted that our water slide does not fall under these requirements because it is less than 15ft tall. The slides at the park are also exempt because there is no additional element of propulsion present.
Resolution 16-2017: Setting Credit Card Processing Fees was presented and approved with a motion from Commissioner Kuehny and seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. Arnold – yes, Schiltz – yes, Kuehny – yes.
A review of the National Night Out program hosted by the Caldwell Police Department was given. The Event will be on August 10th, 2017 at the City Park beginning at 7 p.m. There will be live music, giveaways, a watermelon feed, and plenty of additional exciting details to come!!
Appropriation Ordinance 2127 was approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes.
It was noted that $1,700 had been donated toward the Splash Pad so far!
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:19 p.m.
