Minutes of Meeting – August 17th, 2017  

 

The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Public Works Building on August 17th, 2017 at 12:08 p.m.  Mayor P.  Mark Arnold presided.  Proper notification was provided on the meeting’s change of date and time.  Commissioners present were Jill Kuehny and Michelle Schiltz. Leah Sommerhoff, Deputy City Clerk and Gene Garcia, Marshall were also present.  

 

The minutes of the August 2nd, 2017 Regular Meeting were read and approved with a motion from Commissioner Kuehny, seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. Motion Carried.

 

The July Treasurer’s Report was presented and discussed. The July Cash Report will be presented at the next meeting due to software issues. 

 

The July Petty Cash Report was presented and reviewed. 

 

A Statement from the NRWA regarding safe drinking water was discussed. 

 

The City Commission was invited to a Local System of Care Advisory Council meeting on August 29th.  An invitation to meet our Legislators at the Wellington Senior Center on September 9th at 9:00 am. 

 

Hiring a realtor to help sell the remaining NSP home was discussed. After consideration, the City Administrator was directed to contact Cathy Sheets at Weigand about contracting with her.

 

A KDOT Agreement for Safe Routes to School Project #96-U-2310-01 was approved on a motion by Commissioner Kuehny, seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. 

 

A Special Event CMB License application for the Czech Chapter #1 on September 16th was approved on a motion by Commissioner Schiltz, seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. 

 

A Social Media Policy for City Staff and City Commissioners was considered and approved on a motion by Commissioner Kuehny, seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. 

 

Warrant Ordinance No. 2129 was read and approved on a motion by Commissioner Kuehny, seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. 

 

Police Officer TJ Ohlemeier was nominated for the Sumner County Leadership Initiative by the City Administrator. He will begin classes in September. 

 

A Worker’s Compensation Insurance refund was received in the amount of $1,080.00. 

 

It was noted that the $2,895.95 in excess water use has been written off. The Public Works Supervisor will continue to work on finding the source of the leak.
