Minutes of Meeting – August 1st, 2018

 

The Caldwell City Commission met in regular session at the Caldwell Public Works Building on August 1st, 2018 at 12:08 p.m.  Mayor P. Mark Arnold was present. Commissioners Michelle Schiltz and Jill Kuehny were present. Gene Garcia, Marshall was present. Velta Glenn, guest, was also present.

 

The minutes of the July 18th, 2018 Regular Meeting were read and approved on a motion from Commissioner Kuehny, and seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. Motion Carried.

 

Gene Garcia, Marshall noted that he is continuing to work with the school on the SRO contract coordination’s.

 

Bids for repair to the Fire Department roof were submitted. A motion was made by Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny to approve the bid from Landwehr Roofing. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes.

 

It was noted that Hug Thurman will be retiring from the Fire Department this month. He has served on the department for 24 years; his dedication is truly appreciated.

 

Bids for asphalt patching for areas on Ave E, 1st St, and Chisholm were presented. A bid from Circle C Paving was approved with a motion from Commissioner Kuehny and seconded by Commissioner Schiltz. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes. It was noted the work will start this fall.

 

A recap from the Vision Caldwell meeting was given. It was noted that the need for accessible mental health services are a necessity for rural communities.

 

Appropriation Ordinance 2152 was approved with a motion from Commissioner Schiltz and seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. Arnold – yes, Kuehny – yes, Schiltz – yes.  

 

At 12:45 p.m. Commissioner Schiltz made a motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss trade secrets/financial affairs of a second party for 10 minutes. Her motion was seconded by Commissioner Kuehny. Executive Session concluded at 12:55 p.m. No motions were made.  

 

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
