Be Safe this Holiday Season with these Tips from the Caldwell PDPublished by Leah on Wed, 2017-11-22 12:00
The holiday season is always a special time of year.
Be sure to call and list your home on our VACATION WATCH even if you’re just going shopping for a long day. 620-845-2323 and leave an address and contact number should an issue arise.
It is also a time when busy people become careless and vulnerable to theft and other holiday crime.
We can never be too careful, too prepared or too aware. Please share this information with family, friends and neighbors.
At home and away for shopping:
Be extra cautious about locking doors and windows when you leave the house, even for a few minutes.
When leaving your home for an extended time, have a neighbor or family member watch your house and pick up your newspaper and mail.
Indoor and outdoor lights should be on an automatic timer.
Leave a radio or television on so the house looks and sounds occupied.
While Shopping: Put your valuables in your trunk immediately after purchasing and moving on to your next shopping destination. Thieves are sitting in vehicles watching you when you arrive at the next shopping area parking lot. If you put your items in then- they will know it as well. Use coats or window shades to cover items in back seats. Don’t leave purses/wallets where they can be seen.
BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS!
Report suspicious activity
